Charlotte, North Carolina is a haven for wildlife, which will provide incredible memories for your kids. Introduce your children to many different animals at the Charlotte Nature Museum, go for a nature walk at the Carolina Raptor Center, or feed animals on a drive through tour at the Lazy 5 Ranch.
Visit the Charlotte Nature Museum to introduce your children to wildlife with more gentle activities. Starting with a Beginnings exhibit, which shows how different forms of animal life start out, there are many fun activities for kids to participate in to learn about how animals live. A walk-through Butterfly Pavilion provides a way to interact with many species of butterflies, while the Creature Cavern features snakes, skunks, and more. Take a walk through the Paw Paw Nature Trail, which runs through a 100-year old forest that several owls call home.
Meet 25 different birds of prey at the Carolina Raptor Center. Walk along the 3/4-mile trail and learn about the different raptors and their living habits. During the summer, families can visit to see special programs such as the Summer Flight Shows. The Center aids in the rehabilitation and release of many eagles, hawks, owls, and others birds that can add an additional educational spin to your visit.
Touring through Lazy 5 Ranch will be like no other experience you have had before. The Ranch features a 3.5-mile tour of over 750 animals from around the world, which you can do either from the comfort of your own vehicle or by reservation of a horse-drawn open-air wagon. The tour allows visitors to get up close and feed many different animals including giraffes, zebras, and ostriches. The Ranch provides a fantastic way to directly interact with animals while learning about each species individually. The adventure will be a memorable time for you and your kids.
